Ok so before getting started with the main topic, I would like to name few personalities that you must have heard about :   Rani Lakshmibai , Tatya tope , Chandra Shekhar azad , Bhagat singh , yes well known freedom fighters  but have you heard about Azeezunbai , Mubarak begum, Adala , Hussaini?   The Answer is NO. As a result, their contribution to India's classical arts was never recognized and their role in freedom fighting movements was sidelined.   In their glory days of Mughal era, the Tawaifs were at the centre of art and culture in India, proficient in both music and dance. They enjoyed wealth, power, prestige, political access, and we

Indra - The god of senses

Image
God Indra is one of the most wonderful character of Hindu mythology. He's basically a king of Gods , lives in his kingdom of heaven and is mostly associated with monsoon but he's also associated with senses ( Indriya ) too. In mythology , He has always been depicted as an insecure king of Heaven who don't want any competitor against his reign. Rishi ( Sage ) is considered to be the most celestial who can obtain tremendous powers with their ability of meditation. In most common stories , god Indra considers any sage who is in meditation as a threat for his throne. So, he sends apsara ( Nymph ) to distract the sage. Now the question is what the writer of these stories wants to convey? So, let's discuss the conclusion... Now take an example of a student who want to study before the night of an examination. He is working hard to learn in order to achieve the good grades. Suddenly, his interest arises about the color of curtains with wall.. His mind wants him to plan

Balance of peace

One of the most common concept in Hindu mythology you'll come across is about war between ' Deva ' (Deity) & ' Asura ' (Demon). Deva is associated with Truth , righteousness & peace whereas Asura represents completely opposite side. Interestingly there is a common father of both the group , Rishi Kashyap . Wife of him , Aditi gave birth to Deva & Diti gave birth to Asura. Questions arises that though they are brothers in relation , so why there is always war amongst them? Why there are disputes ? What our great ancestors want to convey through these stories? Answer is about the inconsistency of peace in the world. All the human being belongs to the same origin but still there is dispute , tension & war. These has been continuously going on since the ancient civilizations & it'll continue in future too. No civilization lasted forever. There is not only the description of negativity & destruction in our mythology but there are als
