Indra - The god of senses

God Indra is one of the most wonderful character of Hindu mythology. He's basically a king of Gods , lives in his kingdom of heaven and is mostly associated with monsoon but he's also associated with senses (Indriya) too.

In mythology , He has always been depicted as an insecure king of Heaven who don't want any competitor against his reign.
Rishi (Sage) is considered to be the most celestial who can obtain tremendous powers with their ability of meditation.
In most common stories , god Indra considers any sage who is in meditation as a threat for his throne. So, he sends apsara (Nymph) to distract the sage.
Now the question is what the writer of these stories wants to convey? So, let's discuss the conclusion...
Now take an example of a student who want to study before the night of an examination. He is working hard to learn in order to achieve the good grades. Suddenly, his interest arises about the color of curtains with wall.. His mind wants him to plan a vacation activities after the exams.. His cell phone next to him attracts him then the usual.. In some cases he also feel that his favorite song is playing in his mind..
Here you can consider this student as a rishi who wants to meditate / learn /Hardwork in order to achieve the goals but his senses (Indriya) starts distracting him and a one who can come over to all of these is only able to get their achievements.
So here writer of these ancient stories suggests to overcome your senses.
